About Me
"I spread the message of being “Better Than Yesterday,” my mantra, for challenging/encouraging folks to put forth their best efforts daily to live a healthy lifestyle."
Born in Greenville, SC, and raised in Shelby, NC, I am the son of Sandra Young and Neal Hopper. I loved everything about growing up in the countryside of my small rural town. Playing sports gave me life as a kid and to this day I enjoy the outdoors and staying active. I have accomplished a few things in my life, the proudest by far was becoming a first-generation college graduate.
Today, my work is published in peer-reviewed journals. I work as a Lecturer within the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2018 and I currently serve as Director of the Master of Public Health program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. If knowledge is power then I hope to soak some up and pass some around. My plan is to continue my work in the MCH field through research and to student learning, especially first-generation, and underrepresented college students, through my teaching and mentorship.
