Staying Fit Despite Injuries

I get a lot of questions about what exercises are best for a "bad back" or "bad knees." Injuries happen to the best of us and they can be really aggravating and limit the exercises that you are able to perform. I've talked to a few people who flat out said that they hate to workout because of resulting pain and discomfort. I mean who wants to go running when you have to deal with arthritis in your knee or the swelling and pain due to an old injury??

Dr. Beverly Knight, PT, DPT, Cert. DN of Knightdale, NC, explains how "motion is lotion" for the joints. She discusses some common mistakes that people make during the recovery process as well as gives some recommendations on how to overcome the challenges so many of us face.

I think it's important for people to not only understand the importance of staying active to navigate this pain, but also for them to have a good sense of the types of exercises you can do to get you on the right track. The video below highlights some of the most common mistakes that people make when bouncing back from various injuries, recommendations from Beverly Knight, Licensed Physical Therapist, and exercises and things to do in order to get over those nagging injuries.....

Enjoy!! Oh and be sure to share with someone who may be dealing with these issues.
